***** BodyMantra, with Kimberly Jonas: Wednesdays 6:00-7:30p http://www.kimberlyjonas.com info@kimberlyjonas.com BodyMantra blends barefoot movement, stillness, guided meditation, and world music as a practice and pathway leading to greater self-awareness and understanding. BodyMantra guides us to unlock the intricate stories rooted in our bodies, so that we are able to connect to ourselves more consciously. Through movement, participants are encouraged to attune to their bodies, with the intention of cultivating a sharper sense of what the body needs at any given moment. As we develop this relationship to the physical body and its nuances, we inherently develop the same with all aspects of ourselves. This is where the practice really begins; as we listen for the deep, inner voice of the True Self that speaks through the body, we cultivate discernment, equanimity, groundedness, and compassion that can serve us on our life path. BodyMantra explorations are led by Kimberly Jonas, founder of BodyMantra. There are very few rules binding this practice, as participants are encouraged to discover their own, authentic movement expression; Kimberly provides guides and tools during each experience that are intended to enrich and strengthen the practice. Be prepared to laugh, cry, groove, spin wildly, sit in silence, witness others, meet new friends, and welcome the unexpected. This is the journey of BodyMantra—moving the body to go beyond the body. top

Gurdjieff Movements Workshop
This workshop will provide an introduction to the body-centered meditation practice known as Gurdjieff Movements. The Movements are an integral part of the work of G.I. Gurdjieff (1866-1949), the enigmatic philosopher mystic who provided his students with a wide variety of practical methods of raising consciousness. The workshop will give participants an opportunity to learn several Movements under the guidance of two well qualified teachers, David Cacela and Shar Hester. The workshop will also include complementary exercises with the subtle functions of attention and body sensation, which are seen as important gateways to establishing a deeper sense of presence. The work will be supported by a live pianist. Some of the Movements involve complex sequences of gestures that require the limbs to adopt very precise, well defined forms. Although the level of physical exertion involved is generally quite modest, the Movements are often experienced as highly demanding, so participants should expect to be challenged both physically and mentally. Movements practice itself should not be confused with any kind of free form dance or dance as an artistic expression, but the practice could be of immense benefit for people who enjoy working in these ways. The practice will be helpful to anyone who has a desire to establish a deeper relationship with their bodies. It may be especially valuable to those who wish to improve understanding of attention, it’s limits and possibilities, and it’s crucial role in the quality of life.
